Waskesiu

This year we went to Waskesui for a week with Nathan's family. Where is Waskesui, you ask? I did too. It's a lake in the Prince Alberta National Park in Saskatchewan. This was my second year, and the first time married. We started by taking a quick detour out to see Canada's largest turtle. His name is Ernie and lives in Turtleford. You can't make this stuff up. But what I'd really like to know is if this is the largest turtle in Canada, where is the largest in the world?

When we finally made it to Waskesiu, we spent the week feeding ducks! And hanging out at the learning centre. There were all kinds of costumes that we just had to try..

Nathan also though it was a really good idea for us to go hiking. Of course I had to take a classic Joni photo. As we were hiking, I got my first ever bee sting! I actually think it was a wasp, and I swore like a sailor. And then I cried. Thanks to Nathan's photography skills, I now have a photo to remember that special first. Lucky me. Never going hiking again.

There's also a place called the Height of Land Tower. It's essentially just a giant tower that has a really great view of the park. Tons of trees! Nathan even found where he carved his name when he was in high school! Of course once I found out he had already vandalized the tower, I clearly needed to join him.. Our names are now next to each other. How precious is that?

It was a great week in Saskatchewan! The weather was great and we had an awesome time with Nathan's family! Can't wait for next time!
